MySql WorkBench Connection error!

Hey guys
i was trying to use MySql WorkBench but every time i try to connect to my db it say connection faild
check this pictures before test connection and after and when i try to connect to database

after press on test connection

and this after try to connect to database by press on database>connect >ok>put password test for username root as it in my winsqladmin and c:/windows/my.ini but i got this -->

SqlworkBench like navicat right ?
all i was going to do is connect navicate to v.b but ppl in pages on internet says v.b can connect to my sql workbench only
Can some help guys ?

it says a nice error

it says

Unknown Character set: UTF8

Change Charset to LATIN1 and try again xD

Sorry but how can i find Charset to change it :P
i searched on google and youtube but didnt find anything

im still noob at mysql workbench but dont worry that willnot be for long time :P

just use navicat

i personaly use navicat lite and it can do everything i need

yea navicat is very good
but i went to use mysql workbench because i want to learn how to make V.B connect with my sql and navicate cant connect with v.b
only mysql workbench i think :D

also in meantime i found your solution

or the db is using utf-8 or latin1

here is how to change

just search on google for the following
