Yeah, I have to agree with Rito here. YNK is pressuring hosts to drop customers hosting Rohan servers. The only ones still around are the ones with hosts that YNK/Playwithi can't threaten or the ones that haven't been hacked by disgruntled ex-staff. That kind of thing happens when you have a server based on reverse-engineered code stolen from the game's authors.
Rohan is a losing proposition for private servers these days. Not enough population cares about the game enough to keep all those servers out there alive.
Other games have 100x the population and staying power. If you don't believe me take a look around Gamez Aion. Still hundreds of players and still going strong for more than 5 years now. Why? Because unlike Rohan, Aion servers are built on a home-grown emulator - not on code originally stolen from the game's authors. There is nothing at all that PlayNC can do to close them.

The only person who looked into creating an emulator was Hunin, or other people he knew. It was claimed it was quite developed but I heard nothing more of it so I don't know how true it was.
He's probably the only person capable of getting an emulator done but its doubtful he'll ever be involved in Rohan again.

Yeah no kidding. I think the last thing he wants to see ever again is Rohan.
The first Aion emulators came out when Aion hit version 2. Now at version 4.5 they have pretty much every feature found in the retail game, and far more. The customizing you can do when you get when you have 100% control over what goes on in the server and debugging with a source level debugger is amazing. The Rohan world has nothing at all to compare to this.
For emulators it is not a one-man-show. There are teams of open source developers working together to build and enhance them. These 3 guys doing quests, those guys handling npcs, a couple guys there doing the ai, and random contributions from others. While for one person, creating an emulator may take years, for a team of smart people working together that time cuts down by huge amounts.Quote:
