Running pwi without arc??

Is there a way to bypass annoying Arc when running the .exe? it sucking up my bandwidth.

try using launcher.exe at folder x:\pwi\launcher\

Start PWI with "elementclient.exe startbypatcher".

Or you can kill Arc after you started all PWI windows that you want(ed).

You can kill Arc at the task manager. To the Task Manager you come with Clt Alt Del or Strg Alt Del

I changed this line:

"C:\.....\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\elementclient.exe" game:cpw

to this line

"C:\.....\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\elementclient.exe" startbypatcher

in the link to the elementclient.

now it start without arc

If you also need or want to start the patcher without arc, you can start the patcher like this:

1. create a shortcut to your patcher with this target:
"C:\.....\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher\patcher.exe" arc:1

OR

2. someone in pwi forums reported this:
"I just used the workaround of deleting the Arc lines (174-181) from the stringtab document in the patcher folder and mine updated normally by using elementclient."

OR

3. also to avoid starting arc you can just delete the arcsdk.dll in your launcher folder

4. and last but not least you can disable the autostart of arc or the installation request if you patch the patcher.exe with ollydbg

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

get ollydbg and change this line at 0x403828 to JMP 004038B4 instead of the original JE 004038B4 then rightclick on the window you made the changes in, choose -> copy to executable -> all modifications. then a window will pop up. close it and olly will ask if you want to save the file.. just save it as patcher2.exe next to the original patcher.exe and start the patcher from now on with patcher2.exe if you want to avoid arc.

this will disable (jump over) the check for arc in the programs binary code itself... if they update the patcher the adresses might change but the pattern should remain the same

but i think the easiest and userfriendliest way is to start elementclient with "startbypatcher" argument and patcher.exe with arc:1 argument :) especially because the elementclient.exe is changing every 2 weeks or so and the adresses will too. for 99% of all people this will be outdated next week i guess

you can use any other disassembler you like as well


edit: on the page they say the newest version is 2.01
however, i havent tried this version yet, the version i used in the screenshot is 1.10

good lord you don't need to do all that stuff....... start pwi with the launcher once you are logged into the game hit {Ctrl/Alt/Delete} start task manager go to the Applications tab find arc right click it ..... go to the bottom of the drop down that appears click {Go to process} Then in the bottom right corner there will be a button that says {End Process} click it then close the task manager ...... PRESTO ARC IS NO LONGER RUNNING .... P.S. once this is done you can run as many clients as you wish without having to log arc again
