How many people can go on my server at once?

Hey guys,

I'm running my server straight from my pc by port forwading, I'm currently connected via ethernet to a Bt Home Hub 4, type 802.11ac.

System:
4gb ram (will be upgrading soon to 20gb)
3GHz AMD cpu

Anything else you need to know?

Can you please tell me how many I can contain with 4gb of ram and 20gbs of ram.

Thank You,

You don't need more than 4 GB RAM for a Shaiya server.
With the current population around Shaiya, you'll never see more than 50 players on your server. The first private servers were running on VPSs, which are much weaker than your computer and yet they had thousands of players online.

I see you're kinda new here, so take my advice, don't make a server. There is no need for new servers right now, and you're not ready at all.

Thanks for your reply,

I wasn't planning on creating a public server but just one between friends.

You didn't provide enough specs of your computer.

I never had a server on 1 GB of RAM, but on 2 GB it works just fine for a localhost server. It was on my physical machine, where I have more than just the server up, and there was no lag. I would say around 100 players on 2 GB RAM would be a fair number.

For a gaming server, you ought to have at least 2 cores for better performance.

the 2gb for 100players will simply not work because sql will take up to many ram to store logs and all with 2gb you can have around 10-20 players without lagg if you have about 30-40 the player will have laggs and from 50 on it will be a mess.

Yes, that's ok.

And Teddy, if you disable logs, that would give more performance.

Yet, I disagree with 50+ players being a mess on 2 GB of RAM. Maybe that happened when you hosted your server on your laptop, but my old machine did just fine. No laptop better than a good desktop computer :)

ofc a laptop would be a dumb way. and i never hosted a server on any of my home machines. (always on a host yet ofc on weaker and stronger ones due experiencing which is the best)
by disabling logs it could work yh i agree on that one.
