What's the point of DDoSing others? (Discussion)

So, I've been playing on many servers this month, and each one that I've played on (and had success) has always had someone try and ruin it via ddos. So, I wanted to ask, what do you get from it? DDoSing is childs play, anyone can ddos. But, that's not my point. When you try and open a server, you would've ddosed so many people that you'll have countless enemies to try and avoid when opening your own.

So, why do you think people ddos eachother? Because I'm 99% sure if this community worked together and didn't fuck around we'd be much more advanced than we are now.

For me, the main purpose is getting players. and if you can not secure yourself from these ddos attacks, you're not worth to gain money from your server.

Yes those people just think that the one server without ddos will get all the players... Guys, think about the usual, more effective way: Features and advertising. Much easier.. I will never understand these ddosers

They only want to destroy the others so they will be the only ones in the scene. (my opinion)

If they need to DDOS to get customers, they probably wont make it far anyway. I voted for bored :D

Why is this even asked, isn't it obvious?

I dont know the english word but in German we call it "Neid"
Thats when other People see a Server which is better then they own and they dont like it.

I don't think so, if it were obvious, there wouldn't be 5-6 different reason to DDoSing someone, there'd only be one

Everybody buy a service to do such a thing, like hyperfilter.

I worked with many SRO owners in so many SRO community's even since ZSZC.
We've always used some kind of Anti-DDoS protections.
And since vSRO came out , HPP it's a MUST if you want to survive.
If you don't have enough money just don't open a server brothar! :awesome:

All the reasons you listed above, not much else to say. DDoS isnt the problem nowadays for people, exploits are.

Some people do it for the lulz. (:
Others to make such servers not playable => get them on their servers.

just for the goof of doing it.
To see it works somehow.
to blackmail people.
It doesn't matter. you could also ask: why do pedophiles abuse children?

Anyway, brace yourselves. A new ddos (and dos)-method has been found which will take quite some time to mitigate. Even those anti-ddos-provider will have a hard time.
Nobody's safe ;)
