Hello everyone.
I have little question for you, if I will create Silkroad 2 with models from Silkroad, does JoyMax will do anything about it ? I will do "donators" button instead of "buy silks" and so on.
I was creating my own Silkroad 2 with some other models but to have real feelings in game, will be nice to have mobs / characters from Silkroad in my game.
Of course everything is just for fun, I doing it in free time and there is no rush.
Here are few NEW screens from game and soon I will create little teaser.

- jumping
- climbing
- walking on the edge

Looks awesome, hopefully you'll get the support you need.

And, about your question, no. Not unless your making money by using silk (for example "Buy Silk!") then yuo should be fine. Having a donators button is a good idea. Joymax is way past caring I think.

I was thinking about same thing.
I will work on some more characters / mobs and I will post teaser.
Anyway hard work will be on mobs from Silkroad, since there is no way to extract animations I will need to create bones to each mob and later animate it.

what makes you think importing some random models in some random graphics engine is going to give you a fully functional mmorpg?

True, Unreal Engine.
Also why nothing special ? For sure screens are nothing special, better will be gameplay which you will see on trailer.

You cannot distribute any content (including models) copyrighted by JoyMax whether you're making money from it or not.
You cannot use the name 'Silkroad Online' in the context of a game without written permission from JoyMax in the countries where their trademark applies.
You cannot use 'donations' instead of 'micro-payments' or 'silk' and still give rewards, it's legally the same as micro-payments.

So I can't be on same rules as private servers ?

Those are the same 'rules' as private servers, it's simply the law. They're just more likely to take actions against a whole game than to the hundreds of private servers that usually don't survive for over a month.

All private servers are operating illegally.

Sure, you just have to register your company in a country where joymax have no rights. If your game will be good enough and you will earn thousands of dollars monthly it will be worth to risk, otherwise you would be an idiot asap. Anyway most important problem is that i dont think that you have any chance to get some attention when gamers population gets decreased greatly in last few years, even great games such Raiderz failed to get crowd.... this is not a good time for solo productions.
