PlayStation 4: Space requirements for launch titles

Upon launch, the PlayStation Store will allow players to purchase and download the PS4 launch titles next to the physical boxes in stores worldwide. Downloading on-demand games affects the harddrive space of the consoles - the next-gen PlayStation ships with a 500 GB HDD and about 92 gigs are already being used for the operating system and pre-installed applications such like the Augmented Reality-App called "The Playroom". Sony promised to offer possibilities to extend the harddrive space by adding other HDDs and/or other memory units. Since the PlayStation store in America has already opened its doors, we were able to catch a look at the required disc spaces for the launch titles. The following list will give you an overview:
  • Angry Birds Star Wars - 1,5 GB
  • AC4: Black Flag Gold Edition - 21,2 GB
  • AC4: Black Flag - 21,2 GB
  • Battlefield 4 - 33,9 GB
  • Black Light Retribution - 4,9 GB
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts - 31,1 GB
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts Digital Hardened Edition - 31,3 GB
  • Contrast - 2,3 GB
  • DC Universe Online - 22,7 GB
  • DC Universe Online Ultimate Edition - 22,7 GB
  • FIFA 14 - 9 GB
  • Flower - 1,8 GB
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us - 22 GB
  • Just Dance - 22 GB
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall - 38,5 GB
  • Knack - 35,6 GB
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - 6,4 GB
  • Madden NFL 25 - 13.1 GB
  • NBA 2K14 - 41,8 GB
  • NFS: Rivals - (N. N.)
  • Resogun - 460,8 MB
  • Sound Shapes - 3,4 GB
  • Super Motherlode - 393,6 MB
  • Trine 2: Complete Story - 2,6 GB
  • Warframe - 4,2 GB

With 41,8 gigs, "NBA 2K14" seems to be the biggest game considering the space requirements, followed by "Killzone: Shadow Fall" with 38,5 GB and "Knack" that needs 35,6 GB. The new sequels to the "Battlefield" and "Call of Duty" series will need about 30 gigs. Pretty unique and surprising is "FIFA 14" with only 9 GB. Are you astonished by the differences considering space requirements in any way? Please let us know.
