Nx code used as keylogger?

Quick question for you guys. I'm not too into maplestory but a friend of mine gave me a code for a maplestory nx card worth 25k nx. I don't play maplestory very much so I gave it to another friend. Apparently the code worked and my new friend was happy with his new nx items, but the next day he logged in with no money and no gear. So what I'm wondering is it possible for someone to hack you through just a fake code for a nx card? My friend told me it was the code that got him hacked and I just was wondering if such a thing exists. It seems farfetched to me since something like that would not only allow people to get unlimited free nx, but they would be more or less hacking Maplestory from serverside to do such a thing. All info is appreciated.

Well, did your friend redeem the NX on the official site?

If so, then there is no way that it was because of the code.

See i was thinking the same thing because that would be hacking from serverside.. idk but he kept saying something about it being a NX REP CODE. Any info on a REP CODE?

how it works?

One possible reason i can think of now is that your friend entered the code in a fake website, logging in with his real account info, password, etc, resulting in a third party gaining his information and hacking his account?
