Can a Community Project work out ?

07/22/2009 19:31 Gertos#1
I am just thinking about the possibility to setup a community project to develop a Bot for Rappelz.

But I don’t want to upload already compiled full working exe files for this.
Instead I just want to publish the source code and everybody has to compile the final version on his own!

My main motivation is to inspire the people to learn a programming languages. :D

Can this work ?
Are here some people that want to help with this task ?

I would use C# as a programming languages for this.
The Visual C# Express IDE can be downloaded for free and C# is easy to learn and powerful as well.

So what do you think ? Already a C# - Compiler on your HD ?

Sounds like a plan Gertos, just let me know what you need to get started.

I would setup a basic Bot that includes a small GUI and is able to send some keys to the Rappelz window.
Maybe also with the functions that I alreayd posted on this forum.

This would be place to start with your own work.

yes , it is something like that.
But you don't need to do it alone.

There will be a basic version that is able to do some very basic things
and you will get the Source-Code from this version.

Now the Community can start the 'play' with this tool and build up a own new better bot.

So they can load the source into there own Compiler and change small things and try out the result inside of the game.

A beginner my just change the Hot-Keys , so it fits to his own character.
A Profi my add unique new features to it.

I want the Source-Code to be public, so it will be part of the Project that people post there changes so that all can use the new functions.

I hope we end with something really nice at the end that is free to use for all.
And the limitation that you have to compile the Source by your own will lock out many of the lechers that don't even read the full thread.

You know, this was all i was looking for!!

I was already at a point where i would give it a try myself, sample code would help me alot.

You can think what you want about Kevzor going commercial, but i like this idea, it feels more like the Linux community i'm used to.

This would be a cool new project for me :D

Nice, so u can get like a Group ( already have one "Rappelz Underground" but migthy create another or used that one), we can upload work, change some ideas, and build a function bot. Groups i think that prevent some kind of leechers, or at least make that ppl try learn some.
We can share some work, like oblita device, or get pixel.. and ppl dont need to start from nothing.
+1 on this cummunity Bot

really sry... i think i dont born to speak english XD.. but there is.... one idea

in my opinion this is a very nice idea
the result will be a cool open source bot for the community and
ppl will have their programming skills improved
im really interested in learning something about c# from you :)

I'm in. I tried about a year ago to learn C++ because I knew a guy who used a working bot with this language and to make a long story short it just didn't click for me and I think it's mainly b/c the guy was not much of a helper/teacher. Anyway, as I have told Nightdragon once before. C++ didn't click for me, but if C# is easier and I have people willing to help and talk to, I'm in. I"ve always wanted to learn.

It is a very interesting project and I find the idea to give the source code very good, so everybody can participate in the development of the bot.
I will be interested to help you. I already know the C++ and I know a little of C#
