Idea for star-system progression.

Afternoon elitepvpers,

I've had an idea for the star-system, which involves unlocking more member privileges by becoming more active on the forum. I've noticed that most new users don't tend to post or get involved in the community, they only lurk + leech downloads, and usually post them to other forums. So, I've had a think, and compiled all of my ideas into one. Why not integrate a system into the star-system which, depending on the users activity, posts, thanks etc, unlocks specific forum privileges. I'll explain below.

Level 0 - Basic user functions, posting in threads, viewing in threads, view main gaming/forum sections.

Level 1 - Basic user functions, posting in threads, viewing in threads, The Black Market unlocked, elite*gold trading unlocked, downloading files unlocked

Level 2 - Basic user functions, posting in threads, viewing in threads, The Black Market unlocked, elite*gold trading unlocked, THANKS button unlocked (to stop users from creating new accounts to thank themselves, and whatnot), use of avatar enabled.

Level 4 - Basic user functions, posting in threads, viewing in threads, The Black Market unlocked, elite*gold trading unlocked, THANKS button unlocked, use of avatar enabled, use of signature enabled.

Level 5 - Basic user functions, posting in threads, viewing in threads, The Black Market unlocked, elite*gold trading unlocked, THANKS button unlocked, use of avatar enabled, use of signature enabled, viewing + posting in private-server advertising sections unlocked (to stop users from creating new accounts for the purpose of only advertising their server), uploading files unlocked

Level 7 - All features unlocked, now has the same rights as a normal member.

It may seem like a pretty crazy idea at first, but I'm sure some of the above can be "adjusted" to fit elitepvpers just fine. If the progression system was added, I think it would highly reduce spam, fake advertisement, and so on. So, what's your opinion or ideas?

It would cause the exact opposite. There was a bot for Metin2 which required at least 5 posts, what led to users spamming the whole forum in order to increase their postcounter.
The star level depends on many factors, including your postcounter. Means everybody will try to spam as much as possible to be able to advertise their privateserver or whatever they'd like to do.

Or the post count could be decreased to be the one of the lowest ways of gaining star experience?

This would lead to even more spam.

Anyways: I don't think it would be nice to require a specific level in order to access and use our forums. Elitepvpers has lots of users who don't post and contribute anything, but they belong to the community them same way everybody else does - forcing them to write posts and do other similair things isn't the right way to treat them.

I totally agree with the non-restriction of forum sections for users, and things involving that, It's just the advertisement sections are the one which should be restricted for members with something like 0 posts, otherwise they just create accounts, and spam their servers.

yea and then they will create accounts, spam in every section (probably with advertising) and THEN spam their advertising in the right section
easy as that

But that's my point - To not make the advertisement sections accessible by posting. There's many other ways to prove activity other than post count.

Someone will create 10 elitepvpers accounts
make some posts with them und giving thanks to himself
or buying some Elite*gold and transfer the amount from account to account

spammers will always find a way to spam their stuff

I myself think that this may be a good idea, with few changes.

I think, that a few appropriate changes are made, it will be a good idea to be implemented, and will save the mods, global mods and admins a lot of trouble to delete spam / advertisers
