same with all other weapons... by adding blues (green stones) or upgrading the whites (pink stones)
Also you can try and make it +3/4/5 using weapon elixers
SoS/SoM/SuN also better then normal xbow

What level crossbow are you trying to upgrade?
If its low lvl, say like 42 or under then dont bother adding blues.....making it +3 should be good enough : )
