GM access to SMC

09/14/2013 14:39 stuieps3#1
Hi guys

Ive been a GM on a private server for about 2 months now

me and the owner have run into a problem

ive searched around various forums to try get a fix for this but i cant find one anywhere

as a GM without smc on a VSRO server i am very limited to what i can do

the owners server provider gives him remote access on windows to his server which means he has 1 user and pass for that server

now we are trying to get me access so i can use SMC aswell but without haveing access to the server files etc as he has some private work related files on this sevrer and his bank details etc as the user and pass for his smc and database and server are the same for everything.

is there a way to give access to a GM to have SMC without them haveing access to the server files and whats on the server?

any help would be very much appreciated. thanks

by definition smc gives you total control over the server, you could however run it on your pc but that's not a really good idea

I dont get the problem, just open the desired port and start your own smc.
Btw, having bank details on such a root... well....

The problem is his user and pw is the same for everything

server, website, sql, his work stuff on server etc

so how would a normal GM like me be able to access SMC for his server step by step im new to this and the owner is not that clued up either lol i do know however how to use SQL etc

sorry for the noobish questions i just cannot find a noob tutorial for SMC or for giving normal GM's access to SMC and how to set it up on there comps aswell

thanks for the replys

Welll If you want to have it secure...

Just add a firewall exception at the vps/dedicated for your IP( I hope it's static) to allow to connect on smc port on servla :P

If you don't know how to do this, learn it....if youre not willing to learn, just leave it. ;)
