Alright before I start this "guide" let me say a few things.
This guide is from my eyes and mine only
Everything i say is from past experience with owning a server.
So i have a feel of what works in this mess and what doesnt.
Also, many of you may or may not disagree with my views and if you do, have at it i dont mind, your entitled to your own free thoughts.
Okay, To start off, this may sound weird, but think of a fucking nice name, too many of you guys come up with these shit names like EgyCo or DemonCo, FFS come up with a new attractive name. (no i will not help you come up with names)
Next, Do yourself a favor, before you buy anything, open a text doc on ur desktop and make a blueprint for what you want.
This Should Include:
-Server Version
-Server Name
-Drop Rates
-Item Prices
-Any Edits you may want
-Staff
-Prices for:
-VPS/DEDI
-Webhost
-Possibly coders if your lonely and have no coder friends.
Next, look around for vps companies and webhosts, get recommendations from other server owners or people who have used that company.
Do yourself a favor and don't go on google and type "cheap beast vps hosts"
Because generally they MAY be cheap, their custom service will most likely SUCK. Dont get me wrong you may get lucky and get a solid company for cheap. just dont expect that.
So by now you have:
-Got your server name
-Got a solid set of blueprints
-And found a solid VPS&Webhost company(s)
*You have not spent a dime yet.
So if u have followed that so far heres your next step, DONT DO THIS ALONE find some friends or well known trusted people that will work for you, most will work at no cost because alls they want is a stupid [GM] after their name in game with some silly commands.
For recruiting staff i suggest making a forum on forumotion, and making an application template and having everyone thats interested in staffing apply on their first, the reason for this is to weed out the lazy staff.
Alright so youve read through all this so far and are probably thinking well wtf he hasnt talked anything about a source or a client!!!
Ah yes your right i havent and thats on purpose,
Now ima let you all down on a little secret about this political hell of a game.
Public sources, are shit. No matter who releases it, they release it for a reason right? Who would release a source worth $200 for free? no one, so do yourself a favor if your not going to code your own, save up your dough and buy a good one. their are really nice ones out there, just make sure you know who your buying from.
As for your client, the best thing to do is get a basic TQ client and add on to it as far as edits and other shit you want like loaders or log in screens.
Checklist time! By now you should have:
-Server Name
-Blueprints
-Decently full Staff team
-Coder(s)
-A GOOD source
-Basic Client
-A Webhost
-A vps
Now get on your vps get navicat appserv whatever the fuck it is, set it up and then begin testing, DO NOT RELEASE TO PUBLIC UNTIL YOU GOT ALL MAIN BUGS OUT OF THERE

Have a website designed for you, please dont be a bitch and leech. guys that just take websites and paste your ugly ass name on their. Get some class or better yet :o put some effort in!
Alright now that all thats gone thru i will give u some tips u may not have known.
-Players are very iffy on edits, many players are different in every aspect, you can never please everyone, so when putting in weapon edits skins or what have you, make sure it looks slick and pristine, players wont want to play with a shitty weapon edit that ruins the game. if you want fish around on sirmagusmods or 4botters or even on epvpers.
-Bring something new to the game, this is crucial, i cant tell you how many servers are the same. Same old shit, no new cool shit, i will tell you this, the more innovative ideas and new intuitive events you come out with the better off you will be.
-Be PATIENT, remember this saying "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day"
*take that to its meaning and keep that close to you when you feel like giving up on your project.
-Keep your donations simple and easy. dont make them Overpowered and donation driven, this may be nice for your wallet but its not for players who arent rich and are just looking for a genuine server to play.
-Buy Gold Membership on XtreameTop100 lets be honest, you dont have this your fucked. and ffs get a nice banner, stop ripping off TQ.
-for VIP i suggest not making it super over powered and giving them all these amazing privileges because they decided to dish out $10 to you so they can rape everyone else.
-By now if you have read closely ive been very picky about making your OWN NEW GETUP, as you will notice, new innovative servers that come out with unique ideas, often climb the ladder to the top a hell of a lot quicker than the average joe server.
*I will now just spit out a few new ideas that havent been done yet
-Maybe have a clash of eudemons and conquer
-What i mean by this is keep everything conquer and bring eudemons over, use that guard spell you get from Reborning and take it to the next level, incorporate some eudemons into their, maybe make a whole new pet system and have them be guards or something for you. i think that would be BADASS ultimation did something similar on his old AcidCov2 server
-Allow players to progress to, maybe 145, then at 145 have a completely NEW equipment set, lots of edits out their, an easy way to do this would be getting lvl 200 or 255 weapon codes, changing them to 145 then getting your own edits for those weapons.
-Make a new fucking city, no one has ever done that, atleast that ive seen, this may be a ton of work, but you could name the server after youself or something ;D if you really want to go crazy have your own mobs in that new city as well, good luck doing that but its a challenge for you ambitious mother fuckers :)
-Alright So now you got everything done, server is up consistently you have staff you have everything youve dreamed of for weeks/months now!
A few last things i suggest,
-STAY ACTIVE
as the main owner, you must stay active its a must. dont set up this server and fucking leave it to rot.
-BE HELPFUL
im not saying give everyone free max char or cps, but help them when they have questions or problems entering the game.
-ALWAYS UPDATE
-Add new shit weekly/monthly
-Try to stay up to date with Retails Co's Patch
-BE PROFFESIONAL
i know you have fun being the big boss and your the big shit now, but you have to treat others as you are on of them. RESPECT AND YOU WILL BE RESPECTED.
