["Release"/Fix] US Client Current RDB & StringResource SQL

07/07/2013 03:56 RoflcopterGoesSoiSoiSoi#1
I dumped the US retail client's current (7/6/2013) string file and exported the results into the SQL table. The repack stickied at the top has an Arabic string table - this will overwrite that with the English strings that US client uses right now.

1) I use an older client and some new pets show up with empty strings!

Drag the .rdb file into your client's /resources/ folder and restart the client.

2) Why is my dbo.StringResource showing up in Arabic?

Download the .sql file and execute it.

RDB File:

Hopefully I can save somebody what took me all day to figure out.

PS: Can somebody test if dragging the RDB file into KTS /resources/ changes the language to English?

You can get an up-to-date string.rdb from the PH client but they use some different spellings for things than US.

P.S

No need to test, if you for instance have a Korean client and you want it in English, you will simply take the most recent English string.rdb name it the hash of db_string.rdb (NOT ASCII) as Korean client's do not use ASCII.

Pop it in the client and start up, (WITH /locale:windows-1252 /country:KR) and you will see English :D

i used a tool quite some time ago, i dont remember who released it, but this was 1 of the first things i done to make the stringresource into english, and it was from the US retail client too.

this kts thing i may have to put to the test

Thanks, TealSky!

Yeah, I imagine you can do the same thing with any other client (FR, DE, etc.), right?

Just be careful with sframes as they can contain some hard coded language strings but it is only for the status strings like...

Those are not actually text, they are images (jpg I believe) that are flashed when called, so if you wish to see those in English as-well, you will need to dump the jpg or png folder of an English client and place those files in your NON-English client. (By those files I mean just the Critical, Gaurd Perfect, Missing, Dodge images...)

Oh I have a full English client now I am just saying I have run into it before.

Maybe I got more than the sframe for 7.4 from c1ph3r although I thought I had only gotten the sframe.

Thanks for the resourcing review though.
