If you didn't pay gift, chargeback.

Stop talking when you clearly have no clue.

It is still possible to DISPUTE not chargeback a payment that was sent as gift/family payment.

Chargeback is an entirely different story, most likely you paid from your bank account or credit card and not your balance, which means you can simply report your credit card stolen to your bank and ask them to chargeback any payment done during the card being stolen. Since PayPal is the biggest scam and don't care much for their customers, they'll automatically leave the chargeback in your favor since they don't want to loose money. Regardless if it was a physical item that was sent and shipping was provided by UPS/FedEx or whatever, they'll refund your money. However, if you paid by balance I highly suggest you ask someone in a different country (someone you can trust) and let them login to your PayPal account so there will be different IPs recorded on your account. After that, dispute the payment as unauthorized and they'll most likely decide it in your favor.

You can still chargeback payments not sent as gifts. You can do it with BOTH gifts and service payments... you must be an idiot. :)

You're right with the dispute part though. Claiming it was unauthorized will allow you to make a claim for your money or you can simply call paypal. They will create a claim for you without saying it was unauthorized. (I have done this before myself)

Also paypal does not ALWAYS side with buyers as it was a virtual item. If the seller gives the information about it being a virtual item the claim will be closed and the seller will keep the money. In this case you could do a chargeback as well.

You clearly have no experience with PayPal, chargeback and dispute are not the same thing. And you should really read what I wrote earlier, apparently you didn't.

I do know... I am saying he can chargeback the money. Dispute is a claim which he CAN make because he didn't send it as a gift. He can do the chargeback either way I beleive that's what you're saying.

Chargeback is something that's done through the bank who is responsible for the payments done through his credit card. They simply cancel the payment to PayPal, PayPal doesn't get their money and they simply close the case in favor of that. By the way, it's called family payment now, not sure why they changed it from gift.
