Get wine....? Virtual PC on linux? Umm.....

I dont think you can. The server is a .exe, not a bash or a .sh..... You could with a virtual PC of some sort but standard linux doesnt have a GUI so you would have to use Ubuntu... It could get confusing really fast

I've never done it on linux yet.
But here is a list of systems I've tried on.

1. Microsoft Windows Vista x32 - Doesn't Work
2. Microsoft Windows Vista x64 - Doesn't Work
3. Microsoft Windows XP x32 - Works
4. Microsoft Windows XP Professional x32 - Works
5. Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x32 - Works
6. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x32 - Doesn't Work
7. Microsoft Windows 7 x32 - Doesn't Work

Not much, but hope this helps some of you.

To host sql2000 you need either sql to work on the system or wmware to work on th system. Also, Linux is something totally away. Its like saying "hey, can I host a server on windows?"
Linux has a lot of versions and it might work on some and it might not on others.
Also, do not expect for someone to host a server for you, unless you meet someone extremely retard-friendly (which is very unlikely).
If it works on Linux, go watch sergcool's video, it shows all u need to make a basic test server.

If anyone want to try it just say :D
06/12/2009 21:43 -=ToMiK=-#11
I can try it, I partitioned my hard drive a few days ago. So I have 50gb on it. And I formated it yesterday to erase al lthe data from previous systems i installed on it. If you really want to I can probably find the download and test it for you if you want.

Fail.

You guys need to understand that the program you need to use is MSSQL2000
And MS stands for MicroSoft. And Linux is not by microsoft, so the chances of compatibility are VERRRRRRRRY low.

Also you need to understand that there are many versions of Linux. This is like asking:
- Can I host a server on windows?
And the answer would be:
- Depending on the Windows version.
Same is for Linux, however I Give low chances that it will work on any version.

So, you need to figure out on which Linux versions does Wmware work.
