I had problems with the reg page also but my problem was that it would not accept capital letters, I forget exactly where it is but all I did was allow it to accept capital letters then had no problems.
I think this is a problem most people have, Go to the reg page [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] then try register an account using only small letters and see if this works and if it does then you need to make the page accept capital letters as well as small letters I hope this helps.
