Server transfer?

Not the correct section for this, but does anyone have any experience transfering servers? I have a Plat V EUW smurf and want to transfer it to NA. Would it stay in Plat or drop to gold? Since this is the BST section, i'm willing to trade your input for me vouching in one of your threads.

I heard your ranking gets lowered a little
You just play one game of ranked after you transfer and it will put you in your new league
