Hosting question

okay my friend is gonna hsot my server for me,

how do i get this to work out?

like explain to me how the whole hosting thing works out

First- Rar the debug
Second-Gotta have mysql and such
Third- he must change the Config to his ip
Fourth-The registration must be set to his ip

will sending him the mysql mean a server wipe?

or how do i save the current info to a mysql doc?

if you have phpMyAdmin, you can go to the database; then at the top, with the links, you click export. And then save it as .zip or whatever is available.

Backup ur mysql send it over send ONLY DEBUG dont trust people with a source inless u really really really do Trust them becuse it will get put out lmao. and have fun make sure they have like 4g of ram and good internet conn to host or u will lag.

4GB of RAM?

Hell, I've run private servers on a 256MB machine (600Mhz processor too, FTW)...and the system never lagged...even when about 117 people were online once.

i got 512 gb of ram but idk about the other stuff like Mhz and shit

tell your friend to go to speedtest.net and get his upload and download times recorded and make sure your happy with them

It really comes down to what server source your using, is it TQ binary ?? ( god i hope not lol ) or is it lotf or other ??

Binary is a resource hog from hell it uses up about 800mb- 1gig of ram without even anyone connected to it yet and if you only have 512 ram it will run it but will use up all your memory and crash after a while or other problems will accur because of insufficent memory.

If your using lotf or some one elses source it most likely will run fine on 512mb of ram and a slow cpu until ya get alot of users on it but that won't matter because lotf crashes before it gets a heavy load of peeps on it anyway lol.

What really matters is there upstream of bandwidth if it is not enough upstream your players will start to lag like crazy.

that and plus if he lives far away from them the'll get lag bad that way 2, but ya hes using loft so he'll be fine if he hosted it by him self that and plus he wont have to trust some 1 with his edited loft source :)

yep you can run lotf off basic cable and get away with it lol not a big deal he just needs to get off himachi and open ports on router or w/e so he can run server without himachi then he can ip ban people.
