Depending on your windows , changing a file extension is pretty simple .

Vista / Windows 7 :
Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder Options -> View Tab and then Uncheck the " Hide extensions for known file types "

Windows XP :
Start any explorer window and then go Tools -> Folder Options -> View Tab and then uncheck the "Hide extensions for know files " option .

Having done that you will pretty much figure out yourself that now alll files have their extensions shown (.mp3 , .exe , .bin ) .
If you want to change the l2.bin into l2.exe simply replace the ".bin" part with ".exe" without interfering the with actual name "l2" . This can be done backwards aswell ...

NOTE : Not all file types can be changed into another without recieving some kind of damage or corruption .
