it is always a risk.. period unless a mod on here or long time member can vouch for someone.

This may help in preparation for your safety, I have done this preparing mine for sale:

Make a new email address

Go to cog accounts and update your profile with the new email account

Change personal details: name / location / everything

Use different passwords for the new email account and changed password on your cog/archlord account (Use passwords that you dont use for anything else :)

Copy all this information to notepad or something.

Contact cog accounts and ask them to block any further use on previous payment methods for the account, if you have used paypal, or any of the other payment methods. (When the account is traded a person can, if clicking buy chantra, or view payment history, see minor details shown; ie: your paypal email, last 4 digits of credit cards. COG will not remove this but they can block any further use of these [ make up a story or just ask with no reason, thats all i did).

Additionally you can change the email associated to your paypal account, * I reccomend this personally.

That is pretty much all the preperation for trades or sales, keep logs of the cog emails, as they told me these payment methods cant be used anymore, I would want the email that they stated that just in case, however the cards i used to buy cc way back when, have expired, and my paypal account used i switched the email on it.

Hope this helps :)

and be sure that you get the password to the email on which the account is registered because you only have to write one email (from the original one) to set the password back
and of course dont buy from some1 who just registered here and offers for example a lvl 80 knight ;P

I changed account information and then just sent the email ticket to cog accounts to please remove payment type history because this has been done for me before. The response was: we can not do this now, but we have blocked any further use of previous payment types .

I gave no reason, just wrote the email professionally, as if I were writing an email to a business. Worked fine for me and the account still works fine.. I have not sold it yet :) It is over in the black market.

Gone, no security for virtual items.

I see you have the rep in black market, so you should demand item first or no deal. Period. Unless the other person is someone you know... My opinion.

It is risky business.. I have sold information for in game gold 1 time, and sold a guild wars account before (not here), the person claimed the account was not as advertised on ebay (when account selling was still allowed). But i had images of everything I was offering and that did not matter anyway. Payment with paypal, they do not decide anything on Virtual Items. Either way the guy tried scamming me after receiving the account to get his money back.

I have been on the other end too, about a 1½ years ago i paid for gold from an online mmo gold site.. they never delivered even after 1 month, I tried to dispute via paypal, but they do not decide on Virtual Items. So I lost money.
