I don't think 8.2 is out yet even on the KTS.
For 8.1 you can use any official client unless you are connecting to a specific server and then you should use their client unless they direct you otherwise.
You will need a modified sframe for 8.1 however with no game guard and no server IP check but the rest of the files can be retail.
