Something that I will never understand

I noticed something weird a few days ago, lol.

Step 1: extract refpackageitem.txt from an official server's Media.pk2
Step 2: copy the contents of your _RefPackageItem table to the .txt file that you have just extracted and save it.
Step 3: now make a new txt file and paste the contents of your _RefPackageItem table.
Step 4: compare the file sizes. The first file's size is twice as big as the second file's.

Can someone explain this? lol

Can you upload both .txt files?

I attached a .rar to this post, which contains two refpackageitem files, one of them is 330kb, other one is 659 kb and they contain exactly the same thing, copied from 110 cap BR DB.

Maybe notepad just sucks?

The result is the same if you edit it with Notepad and Notepad ++.

Because of the ' tab ' between words.
For example: 1xtab 2xtab 3xtab 4xtab 5xtab

Dunno if you'll get what I mean or not , but , SQL customize any text into tables / rows with these tabs . So , if you'll take a look on the bigger size and , recopied it again then moved into text as you've done there.. size won't be changed because its already contains same customized tabs by sql.

Then its probably missing lines

But... both files have the content that I copied from the database. And I edited both with Notepad++

_new is saved in ANSI thats why it's twice as smaller as the other.

Oh, it's saved in UCS-2 Little Endian. But the idea is same.
