[HELP]MSSQL 2 Instance Help...

Alright, so I'm trying to work out how someone could run dual servers on the same computer. If it works out, I'll post a tutorial. It'll be for dedicated servers only. Stuff that Fussion is doing, is fucking hilarious. My servers setup to where it only needs 1 registration page, it replicates account/cash/billing to the new instance. Well on SQL 2008 it does.

Alright here's my problem... I'm no SQL Expert, I'm far better in MySQL.

I've tried editting ports and shit like that. Anyone have any ideas?

well if i taught myself correctly, then setting up a second instance should be exactly the same as setting up ur first instance. all databases and odbc etc should be linked accordingly, although i'm not quite sure about this. just to make sure i'm going to try this myself.

Yeah, it should be it isn't. What I noticed is, that you can't use the same port #, which is 1433 for the 2nd instance. You've gotta use a different port number. =/

well i think i understand what ur getting at but i don't see what the true motives r. i'm pretty sure that a second instance isn't needed to create another server channel, but i could be wrong. for mysql, i didn't use a second instance to create a second channel for RO but that RO not Dekaron.

Its actually for a completely different server. Say... Abaddon & Trieste. They're hosted on the same computer, using 2 different IP addresses & ports.

so what ur saying is u want multiple servers on the 1 machine? its tough if u don't have the processing power but since ur doing it for dedicated servers, i assume u do.
