05/02/2009 21:15 Pete1990#1
First in General.cs Search for public unsafe General()
Under it add this
public unsafe General()
{
try
{
string Password;
Ini Nothing = new Ini(System.Windows.Forms.Application.StartupPath + @"\ItemNamesTold2.ini");
Password = Console.ReadLine();
string svpass = Nothing.ReadValue("ItemPass", "password");

if (Password == svpass)
{
When you see Console.WriteLine("Press Enter to close the server."); Your gonna add this

Console.WriteLine("Press Enter to close the server.");
Console.WriteLine("Never close it any other way or the characters will not be saved!");
}

Almost done Now go to ur Debug Foldier Copy ur ItemNamesToId File make a copy Rename it to ItemNamesToId2 Delete everthing inside and add the following inside
[ItemPass]
password=YourPassword

Finshed you need password to start the server or it wont load at all.:)

Well correct me if i am wrong no one can start the Sever console but everyone can open the ItemNamesToId2.ini or Dat file and see the password and just put type it into the console.

This is an extremely bad way to password protect your server.

Of course you can then use .NET Reflector and just get the password right out of the source code.

The lesson to be learned here is that you should just not share your source or its executables.

on topic: who with "enough" neurons would ever use that code?

even a better one would be

string Pass = Console.ReadLine();
Pass.ToLower();
if(Pass == "myfirstidioticthread")
{

}
//even thought this password can be still find, IS A LOT BETTER THAN TOPIC`s FUCKING CODE.

Actualy not, the way it was build in the topic, you just could get the password without using a .net reflector, and a someone named coder will never try to start that source until is anyother thing than lotf or other shits that was published. Also, for noobs this prety good, because someone who runs a server should know things like those.
