If I were you, I wouldn't play there, who knows what kind of an .exe you guys downloaded while playing here, downloading updates they did. It's pretty easy to hide a file from explorer, so I'd be careful on your place.
I read the post from Haze, so i immediately install avast (because it has highest rating in cnet), and look what i found?

I have 8 sro clients in my games folder so i'm not sure which one is infecting my computer & spreading it. Final scan, 815 infected files (exe, dll, html) were found in games folder (luckily other folders were not infected).

Viruses:
- VBS:Agent-KZ(Trojan)
- Win32:RmnDrp

My suggestion to moderators for everyone's safety sake:

1. Post & sticky clean sro executable files (silkroad.exe, sro_client.exe)
2. Restrict an auto-updater from pserver
3. Pserver owner only allowed to post their pk2 files

Thanks you.

Where does he say PK2 files can be infected? He says the opposite. He says that server owners should only upload PK2 files instead of the whole client (which includes executables).
Also, it's actually possible to have an infected PK2 file, it's just that no one has done it yet because it would be pretty hard to launch the virus.

I've heard about something like that, not in the PK2 files, but, movies and everything on da computer is possible to get infected. I got the fastest solution, go to the games and format it >.< (don't play SRO anymore)

Sure they can't, but like your pk2 (egn) have 3-4 exe files inside(not saying they are virused, just dds converter and renamer) and if antivirus is able to check it (i doubt) then you can have a so called infected pk2

OT yeah the sro_client is a problem novadays and I agree that mods should post a clean one for people and just pk2 files from owners.

Technically you can infect the pk2 files, but I don't think anybody here has the knowledge/time to do it, it's kinda pointless anyway. Infecting the client itself is so easy, a child can do it

Every antivirus sucks. The best antivirus is well-functioning human brain.
