Wrong SQL version? I think u use MSSQL 2005 or MSSQL MSDE 2000 not MSSQL 2000 Enterprise Edition the English version with SP 4 .

You have activated the IP/TCP protocol? You have check the SQL Server Port?

I've the same error on begin , i have used MSSQL 2005 not MSSQL 2000 E.M. the English version

Its ok thanks for the ideas
i figured out the problem

the problem actually lies with sql server 2000.

even tho the defult ports are set and what not the
server wasnt actually listening on that port
and there for it would not connect.

after installing service pack 3 it worked perfectly.

so cheers and thanks for trying to help me out.
