What are the best ways to gain the most players ?

Create a video trailer on youtube then promote the video(spend more - get more ) targeted viewers

creating videos, having good offers for the players(not old boring unique events) and stuff like that can lure more players into your server

as he said, creating videos before opening your server like trailer and about your server info

Talk about how good your server will be on epvpers as much as you can before opening it.
Doesnt matter how much it will suck people will play.

Create a proper advertisement at the top gaming sites, especially elitepvpers.

I haven't seen any for years ...

You can organise a web-wide tournament (GNGWC-like),but you'll need an extra vps/dedicated and few people to get it done.

With a cash prize(Even if it's small),this will let ppl know more about your server,by saying (Sponsored by ***** network).

I suppose players -I don't mean brainless ones- won't join dump servers even they got huge advertising

Most of the SRO players nowadays are brainless kiddies. So he probably needs x9999 exp and sox rates and x15 alchemy rates for his server to be populated with these evolution's mistakes.

Make threads in different forums.

Video description of the server , screenshots, lots of info.
Keep the server and website online at the first day and rest of the time, also have a fast client download.

Keep the info, links as updated as possible.
Post all your updates at the place you advertise so they know that the server aint dead.

Use a special title to drag the attention to your thread, and dont use the same as the others.

4)Google ads
5)Facebook

And ofcourse u need screenshots,good photos
and a well spoken english...
And then if ur server is rly nice and good system, u will gain people like 400/500 player on the first day

ofcourse the most important,Launch the server after 1 full week of adevrtising
people will wait for it,and u launch it on a good time ,many would love to join a fresh newly opened server.
