04/08/2009 21:35 andyd123#1
Hello everyone!

This thread will be here to serve as a centralized location for ALL suggestions that deal with this forum, its subforums, or any forum with CO2 in its title.

I will be updating this first post as suggestions come in by linking to the post number in which you suggested something.

Your suggestion should include:
  • What are you suggesting
  • Why do you think it should be accepted

Your suggestion should NOT INCLUDE:
  • OMG all teh modz sucks!111
  • attacks on members
  • flames
  • spam
  • anything that breaks the rules/ettiquite
  • allowing of posting of cracked sv, etc
  • anything illegal
  • something you know will never happen: ie. free level 2 status

@Moderators: I need your help to keep this thread clean, as I am unable to do so. Please delete any post which does not follow the above guidelines, but please MAKE SURE TO LEAVE ALL RULE-ABIDING SUGGESTION POSTS IN PLACE SO I MAY LINK TO THEM. Lastly, please allow me to keep track of this initial post, otherwise things could go haywire.

Thanks, guys!

What are you suggesting:
a "Serious" sub forum, very strict rules, an example, no request threads. Not following the rules will get you banned from the section.

How is this beneficial:
An actual forum without 50 threads requesting shit.

Why do you think it should be accepted:
Same as beneficial? Just worded differently...

What exactly would this subforum include? What would be it's purpose? What would be talked about in it?

Why do you think it should be added is different than how it is beneficial, it is not just a re-wording. It's asking you why YOU think it should be added, ignoring the benefits.
I.E. it would give a place for serious people to talk.

Beneficials go under why it should be added, you don't need both really...

Anyways it would just be a general section for anything but with very strict rules to reduce spam.

Um, okay. hok30 thought there was a rule where you could get infraction/ban for copying someone else's work. For example, all the copies of _fobos_ multiclient.

What I/hok30 are suggesting:
That the "reposting" of someone elses work be moved from the nettiquette section and become a rule that members can receive an infraction (consequence - including taking away any thanks received) for breaking.

Why do I think it should be accepted?
1. Because people who post useful exploits will receive the thanks they are entitled to, which will encourage them to continue posting their work; infractions will discourage others from copying the work just because they can.

2. If it were a rule, moderators could do something about it. For example, all John Dread could say to Aslan2 was something like "don't copy and you won't get flamed (paraphrasing)".

3. People want more moderator intervention in the forum.

Just thinking that all these old hacks that are no longer up to date. They Should be moved an archive section. Would make the section a lot neater.

Maybe changing the Pserver section in an invitation-based section? I know that this idea failed before, but regarding the amount of spam, it wouldn`t be a bad choice.

What am I suggesting?

Separated section/sub-forum, related private server's advertising only. Obviously no questions allowed in this section.

Why do I think it should be accepted?

Basically, there are sorta 2 kinds of people browsing p-servers section. One, looking for help onto improving their self-made servers, releasing self-made sources etc.

Second type of people don't care about server's developments and related, they're strictly lookin' for a place to have fun, either leveling or PvP server.

However, due to lack of sub-sections to separate above listed - questions, advertisments, source-code's releases etc. are placed into one un-organised " CO2 PServer - Discussions / Questions " sub-forum.

To conclude, I'm suggesting to create at least one separated sub-section "CO2 PServer - Advertisments", which would be the place to release final products/servers into public.
Note: To save users time, one of the posting requirments could be putting [LVL] or [PvP] in front of the thread's title.

Was about to request this again.

It isnt a suggestion it just needs doing. No debating, no questions it needs doing today.

What am I suggesting?

Sub-section, exclusive for CO2 Weapon, Armor & Interface edits - GUIDES

Why do I think it should be accepted?

There's lots of tutorials regarding interface edits, etc. .ini edits, alpha layer editing, hue/saturation edits, login screen tutorials, and more and more coming, i.e from myself - .c3 creating tutorial, .c3 texturing tutorial etc.
Having that kind of sub-section would've been surely supportive for begginer modders or people lookin for help and wouldn't be much of a pain to implement nor moderate either, rite?

#Edit,

yea, there is a guides & templates section but it's already filled with loads of tutorials regarding lots of different shit and it makes searchin for a certain thing a lil bit painful...

We allow posting of guides of edits in the sub forum, but il hear with the admins.
But im not sure if we got enough guides around to make an own forum for it, as an easy alternative id make a sticky with all guides in the edit section.

Well, I can hook e*pvpers up with ~5 and I'm pretty sure there's more than 10 guides around.. Plus, things such as files backups etc. can be posted there too. I could count ~20 threads to fit this section and more to come so Iunno... Still not enough?
