Nope, you don't have to do this. This is just to upgrade your account to an adults account so you can play longer than 5 or 6 hours, the rest is what he already did (download the client, patch the client, register new account ...)

After 5 (or 6) hours you aren't able to get experiences or pick up items anymore, its in the guide, just read it..
