Little help with dedi setup

Wondering if I can get a little help with dedi server setup... Currently everything is set, but the server can not connect with the SQL. I get this error: "Microsoft for OLE DB Provider for SQL Server [DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied."

I have the SQL user account setup with the correct password, I have no Firewall running, but it appears that the ports or the IP is the problem.

If anyone can shed some light on how they did their dedi setup, it would be muchly appreciated.

I guess I should mention running Win S 2003 4 GB RAM, and Dual Core CPU.

Have you installed mysql 2000? Service pack 4?

Yes, I have followed ALL directions, everything is installed, and running. Everything here talks about for running one on your home machine that you can play on. Since I have dedicated IP address on the machine, I don't need any of the VMware or anything else like that. I know there is something that I am missing, that no one wants to give out because its a dedicated machine, and not my personal computer at home.

I have been searching these threads for over 8 hours, and EVERYTHING listed I have done and tried, without success....... Please tel me what the "special" part that is left out for dedicated's

plz help, so we can get the server going and it will be the best server.

i ran a server on a 700mhz pc with 512mb ram!

you need sp4 and do everything over again

Whats that supposed to mean. I never said no one couldn't run one on a PC, I just mentioned what I was using...

Do you know what your talking about?

And what does Jesus have to do with running a Pserver?

I said I followed ALL directions listed here on the forums. 8 hours of searching threads, I am pretty sure I came across that suggestions.. (wouldn't you think?)
