Cant Seem To Solve This...

OK i cannot seem to get this working here :mad:. I have followed all the steps correctly and set up my ODBC and i do have enough RAM (5k+), i have checked for spelling errors for the account name and set my ip correctly. I just dont know what the problem is... any one kind enough to give me a STEP-BY-STEP on how to make an account on SQL so it can connect properly... and correctly set up the ODBC (maybe i did something wrong in there)... much thanks appreciated... check picture (link) IGNORE THUMBNAIL

i think you have not mssql server sp4 installed

you need Sp4 then works

ok ill try that thanks for help ill thank you if it helped me :cool:.

And by any chance could you or anyone tell me how to set up an account properly? For example this:

CAST_PORT = 7882
DATABASE_ADDRESS = 192.168.116.128,1433
DATABASE_DATABASE = CHARACTER
DATABASE_ACCOUNT = DkServer(account)
DATABASE_PASSWORD = 111115(pass)
CAST_SERVER_ID = 1101
LOG_PATH = ..\LogFiles\

How would i set up my account and pass on the server so dbmon.exe wont give me that error... i need to make that account but i don't know how :(

Because I just installed SP4 and im still getting the same error. I believe it is NOT recognizing an account so it cant connect.

P.S. I have tried making an account *not knowing how* and still failed

Thanks

Have you forwarded ports needed for the server?
03/26/2009 12:28 ttkk#5
ill try that, what ports need to be forwarded? and i have my firewall off.

Also is it ok if my server isnt local? or do i need it to be local... my server says TYLOR-FDBF67487 on service manager. Is that a problem? Do i need to change that to local?

Change that to local, and forward 7882, 10000, 50005, 1433 ports

Control panel-Administration tools-ODBC-DATASYSTEM(DNS)-Add -SQLSERVER-Link enter your server name/sa login and password linked to the good database and that it
