I assume you mean a private server and not OS.
It would be difficult after finding a way to run the services in a linux enviroment "they are not bash scripts after all" You would then have to convert everything to use a seperate database engine because MS SQL Server will not run on linux..

So in my opinion not worth all the hassle of completely re-writing the game files and databse.

You might be able to run it on Wine, yet I am not totally sure, have never even thought about playing games in a Linux environment

Yes, Wine should work for Shaiya.

for more performance run: 'WINEDEBUG=-all wine game.exe'

Non US versions probably wont run because GG wont run via WINE.

I tried running it using wine and linux mint 12 a few months back. The game would load but if i remember correctly it was just a black inside the window. I think there might have been sound but thats it. I didn't know how to troubleshoot it but maybe someone else has the expertise. Good luck though, keep us informed
