The downfall of silkroad?

This is my own opinion btw


Well, as the title is self explanatory, I'll still explain it for you.


Is this the downfall of silkroad? As I see everyday, threads for 'ideas' for new servers, and 'old-style silkroad' servers.. These are the servers which get people hyped up and they then become overrated, and when they are finally released, they shutdown after three days.

It's like, there is no way of bringing back any of the old silkroad gameplay. There is no possible way, there will always be faults. There are a few stable servers, which I appreciate, some of which are Myth, Overlimit, PlaySRO and so on, which have an understandable amount of players for their hard work which they put into creating&hosting it and keeping it stable(don't start shitting your pants because I mentioned PlaySRO and stable in the same sentence) but yeah. Daily there are threads in which people ask for ideas, and it's the same answer. 80/100cap, pvp pve. That's what's popular nowadays.. I have no real reason in posting this, I just felt like letting out all of which I feel about Silkroad. Being an ex-player, seeing all of these threads in the discussion session just proves that silkroad is slowly but surely coming to it's end..

Myth and Overlimit are both suffering from attacks, the player count of OL dropped tremendously - glad to see that Synx's server finally gained some more players anyway.
Due to the continous attacks you're facing nowadays it's almost impossible to have a stable server running.
Instead of trying to increase the enjoyment for players we have to care daily about new issues.

Unfortunately everyone is able to ruin someones server out of a mood currently - if you're bored get a tool and start the attack.

Silkroad is imo dead due to its community with its immature, envious and selfish behavior. The last time I enjoyed playing silkroad was several years ago at the 80 Cap.

I've got a slight feeling that this thread will be closed - personal opinions don't seem to be welcome these days.

I personally left SRO, there is no hope, doesn't matter what you do. I got enough.

1. I'm going to work my ass off for the server everyone wants.
2. As for attacks its because of immature losers, who are jealous selfish and lowlifes.
3. I know i am not a god-like coder or programer or anything and i won't claim to be. But i am asking for the support of my epvpers to help me as of what would you all like in this server. And no it won't go down in 3 4 5 days or 1 or 2. Meet the hosting payments and it will stay online. As for DDos we will take care of that ourselves.

4.We're a community , silkroad is dead because no one wants to stick together. One lucky cunt gets a break in getting a dedi and he kicks everyone off the band wagon and gets consumed by money and wealth within the next couple days he's DDos'd and server goes down.

So with that said (i know i had some grammar errors but oh well bare with me) check out my thread and tell me what you think. Honestly

Nah, Myth doesn't get attacked anymore and when ... it just simply Lags.
Dunno if OverLimit still get's DDoS Attack but Myth Online and OverLimit doesn't deserve this.

Silkroad isn't dead, as long as Servers are growing like Mushrooms it won't simply die.

People's are saying it is dead because they're stucked in the beloved 80/90 Cap Phase in iSRO but what was different?

The Problem on 80/90 Cap Server's even existed on iSRO in terms of Goldbots , Bots , Non-Support, No Content and if you ask me, Joymax deserved it that iSRO goes down at this moment with their Popularity.

The best you can do is finding a "High Cap Server" with Medium/High Rates speaking of 80-300x Rates and not in the thousands. Also the name of that Server should say already that "This" Server will die or not.

In one point Silkroad is dead, the Community. Let's face it, it was our fault and Joymax fault.

Silkroad became shitty when the Alexandria Update came and I'm sure Joymax thought after all these Years ":Player's are Botting, let's recycle Monster's they won't even notice it and we can still earn Money".

I give you a comparison. Go to the Jangan Cave B3-B4 and look how it was builded and now compare Alexandria or Mirror Dimension.

The only new Monster's at Alexandria we're inside of the Pharao Temple and in Echo Valley. Mirror Dimension is just a 10% edited Map of Constantinople, there even is the Colosseum of Constantinople.

Why should Joymax care of their own Player's when everyone is 24/7 Botting?
Why should Joymax create new Content if everyone is Botting?

Not to speaking of that Silkroad Online is about to die when more Degrees are released. I mean soon you have probably "30.000" Phy/Mag.Atk and it's just a one hit Massacre.

I must say that Bot's are the Blessing and the Curse for some Players.
Sure you're happy when you get an Sun Weapon or a Sun Piece but is it really good for the Server? Any Server suffers from Bots, they're causing Inflation, no Wars at all, no Jobbing , no Parties and and and...

Silkroad isn't dead, Joymax and their Community is dead.

That's what I'm thinking about "How-Dead-Is-Silkroad-Online".

How about i remove the allowing of bots? Would that work or should other measures be taken as well? What do you personally think should be in a server?

I think we should stick with 110 the Original 1-11 Degrees of silkroad. Anything over 11 is just pointless even Egyptian items themselves are pointless. And everyone is so in love with 90 cap 80 cap but the skills and shit are boring and wack. 110 is the limit in my opinion but. Let me know what you guys think.

The only way to prevent the huge income of Bots is the new Jobsystem.
Since as far as i know the mBot Crack doesn't work on such Servers.
The System isn't even that worse, in my Opinion even better since the Job Sets grants you more Stats and because of that you have more Survivability.

It's your Choice which Cap you choose , but well, free silks , free items kills the Server rapidly. You can open a PvP Server immediately if you want that^^.

Higher the Cap = Higher the Rates, you should balance them out so People's need atleast 1-3 Weeks to grind and with the new Jobsystem they should work hard for it not like getting a whole Job Set in just one Week.

You also shouldn't over edit it, personally i like the "Original Non-Edited Silkroad" more but well, it's your Choice. Don't wanna build your Server. :D

I said the same when I was about to start my server, and from my experience, I will tell you what could happen:

1. Your server fails and you have to close it in few days because not enough players to keep it alive.
2. You are not enough skilled for keep the server safe and updated.
3. You succeed with your server, start gaining players, and start getting attacked few days later. Income is not high enough for pay a good protected host unless you get over 500 players (allowing bot) and you have to close it.
4. You don't know enough about security, and your db and files get leaked in a week.
5. All of the above.

If you are already asking for help on elitepvpers, you will probably get the option number 2. When you start a server, IN THEORY, you are supposed to have enough knoweldge, or a team that fills all the required knoweldge areas for make a server. Like 90% of servers doesn't accomplish this, thats why they close after a week or just fail.

We do get attacked every day. The new host is really expensive, and its worse than the old one. The quality of my server decreased a lot due to the attacks, and also my motivation, that is one of the reasons I left. The lag on the new server is awful, I experienced it by myself, and the worst thing is that there is nothing that I can do. All of this due to stupid and greedy server owners that attack servers with better content than them. In the end, only the players are losing, they do lose quality, they do lose motivation to play on a laggy server, and also patience.

I agree, but i am only asking because i don't care for the content. I enjoy silkroad regardless of the features i like killing shit and running around landscapes for no reason wearing my job suit thief to grind cause it looks rebellious so on so forth. But i see what your saying. Gonna try to avoid that. Though thanks for advice

Myth Player's won't leave, we already prooved that^^.

Maybe the dumb ones but well, BloodLatin, Ninjitsu and other Union's won't leave because your Server is far the best outside.

I mean come on ... you worked that hard and you deserved it finally that you get a high amount of Players.

it is truly disappointing to see SRO legends giving up
and the reason is not the noob servers
The real reasons is the noobs that DDOS and attack other server to get more profit out of there
SRO was intent to be a cool game, now this kind of ppl have turned them into a gold mine, and they are all killing others ppl that get their own
I'm not pointing out which server are attacking other(that's up to your imagination) but I must say, I'm truly disappointed
It is thanks to people like Synx, Lasthief, Chernobyl, Drew, Windrius(haven't heard if him in a while) that the SRO scene was the best 3-4 years ago
Nothing is left from that
I really would like that the upcoming SRO-2 to be a real overhaul over SRO
maybe that time of nostalgia may come back, at least for a while

would you guys play on a joymax hosted 80 or 90 or 100 or 110 cap?
