First two are somewhat correct, but last one isn't. Everyone in IT will readily agree that Win8 beats Win7, as it is simply a refinement of the core with quite a few (and quite nice) features.
It's Microsoft's imbecilic idea to stick "the UI formerly known as Metro" instead of a regular "win style desktop" that's gonna kill 8.
notes:
WinME was a sad casualty of stupidity, as it was basically "Win98SE improved", but M$ decided it was a good idea to shove stuff into it that barelly worked decently under a much later NT based XP, nvm a DOS based OS. So much so, almost none of it was backported to W2k and had to wait till XP to be thought of as "stable enough" to find it's way into the "business OS"
Vista was a casualty of delivery date pressure. The original Longhorn specs were making it later and later for release, and M$ had to dump it "as was", basically by stripping out stuff and by accepting way too much stuff as "good enough". End result is as we all know. Years later you get W7 which is basically Vista core/UI but with the years of polish they couldn't afford back then.
