pointing in the right direction

ok so i taught myslef how to make websites online chat sites ect now i wanna learn how to build a private server ive got a vps running windows ive messed around with a few sources but i would prefer one that was kinda up to date pirates stuff like i have c# visual basics can anyone point me to a source code or anything that would help me?

There's a better thread posted by someone else but I don't remember the title.

The first step is ALWAYS learning to program. If you don't understand how sources work, how the programming language you choose works and how to debug/fix problems then you will not get very far regardless of what source you use.

Anyways I've been thinking for a while to do a proper tutorial, but I can never find the time needed :D
