Getting the old Itemmall back

08/17/2012 16:52 GoneUp#1
Some Days ago RSRO got updated, the update included the cap 120 update and also the new "web" item mall. Since I'm working on a emulator the old ingame system was easier to handle ;)

So I tried to restore the old Itemmall over the media.pk2, more specific over resinfo/ginterface.txt. It seems that it is hardcoded in sro_client.
Now to my Question: Did anyone got a Idea/Solution what I can do to get the ingame Itemmall back?

Why would it be easier to use the ingame mall? If you use a decent database approach for your emulator, I would say a webbased item mall wouldn't be that hard to make, and I like the idea way more too. Unless of course you are not that into web programming.

That's the point. I never made anything web-based. So it was easier for me to handle it over my emulator. Maybe I should look into ASP.NET.

Oh yeah, that can be a problem. asp is not that hard but it's a lot different from client programming

Well, don't you have the version before the update? (the sro_client) You can setup a test vsro server and see packet structure, and use the rsro client before the update.

The point is that I originally didn't want to modify the sro_client nor the media. So I can keep my emulator up-to-date to the actual silkroad version. Actually they inserted the Jupiter Update.
I had the "old" Itemmall fully working, then Joymax replaced the ingame mall with their web browser -.-

Must look what I gonna do.

The rSRO isn't owned by Joymax, if im not wrong. :P
I got your point, I guess you should look to aspx then. A structure that you are already know. (coding with .net)

I honestly don't see the point of a web-based item mall. How many people actually buy something directly from the web page instead of from in the client?

This makes the process of buying an item much slower, which isn't a good thing. People are more likely to buy (multiple) items when it's 'easy'. It should almost feel like buying from an NPC.

Well, as I know meaning web based it's not bought from a browser. The F10 mall has a web browser inside it, (like iframe) If i'm not wrong.

Even if that's the case (it has been ages since I've last played SRO or even started the client), the process wouldn't be as smooth anymore as before.

Well, i don't really know if it's good or not but - the main issue is he's trying to make his emulator up-to-date, so he have to implement it in some way.

He's obviously trying to avoid it and that's actually not such a bad idea imo.

It is like you said. When you press F10 it opens the itemmall window with a IFrame in it.

I have chosen the way to keep my emulator up-to-date with silkroad and run a (basic) webpage to serve the itemmall. I got a nice offer from a web developer who wants to make a website.
Anyway, thanks for your help ;)

EDIT:
Just to notice: Even the official rsro mall (in the acutal client) is not working at the moment. it gives out a "authentication error" ^^
