Realistic specs for a 500 man server

Hey!

I want to know what the specs are for running a 500 man server. Also, I don't have any experience with sro hosting, but afaik there are 2 servers (login and gameserver?). Can they be hosted on one vps?

8GB RAM, any Xeon CPU, 1gbit/s connection, any HDD (I would suggest SAS drives or an SSD though).

Host it on a dedicated server instead, much better performance than a VPS.
