I'm using SQL 2008 express (r2) version 10.50.1600 from this link

Download: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 - Express - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

But when i go to restore the data i get this error

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 10.50.1600. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 10.00.1600. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

Does anyone know how to fix or am i doing something wrong?

You probably don't have sql server 2008 R2. the error message says you're trying to import a 2008 r2 database into a 2008 sql server.

Check if you have multiple sql instances or install 2008 r2.
