The original Zip file format limited the number of member files in a Zip file to 65535 files.

ok... 65.535.. sounds hexy to me, my folder contains about 59.000 files, and i'm not able to create a zip archive.
i'm pretty sure what i'm taking about.. if you open some dekaron.exe with olly debugger, you'll see instructions where the exe gets the files. the exe gets them through the data.hd.
now open that file with an hex editor. wird signs at the beginning (header infos), then 2 bytes of filesize, 2bytes of namelenght, the name, and another 2bytes telling the offset from that file in the data.pak.
IF you just zip the folder and call it data.pak, you'll have 100% different offsets (wit max compression or without compression.. doesn't matter!!)
now..
if the exe gets the file offsets from the data.hd how da hell should the exe be able to find the right files at those offsets mentioned by the data.hd??
that'S why i'm saying that it isn't possible!
i'm really sorry that i ruined your dreams!
if you perfer, next time i won't say anything and laugh about you trying to make the impossible possible.
i've got a data packer, and believe me... it's waaay different than zipping a file :/
i really don't get ya why you guys get mad at me! i'm just saying that that won't work.
it would be like... open a textfile, write your name in it, save it as text.bmp, open it with paint, and you'll see your name written in a bitmap.
se? that's kinda "not working"... the same as this one.
just trying to clear that up :/
but do like you want... go ahead, try it, and waste a couple of hours on it for nothing..
