Client Graphic API

Does anybody know what graphic API that the client uses to do all of their graphics, or are they doing straight DirectX?

I've noticed in some of the other forums that people have changed how lucky time is shows on the ground, etc. They must be using some sort of graphic API package or something.

Thanks in advance.

They use DirectX. There are higher up calls(That allow easy adding/removing text to be displayed).

Those are edits of the effects, not directx edits.

How would one go about loading a DDS file in DirextX and then executing it?

Correct. I've tried looking on the web, but haven't found too much. I did get on MSDN and went through their online docs, but it wasn't too helpful.

If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to load a DDS file into directX and then play it, that would be great.

All I really need is a URL that has a tutorial or at least enough information to figure it out. Thank you.

I'm not positive, but you should be able to load a dds file just the same way as a regular jpeg, gif, or any other type of picture file, have you tried that?
