Hex editing question

Hi i have few questions about hex editing. After you edit the pack.04 what do you do? Do you save it normal way and launch or as winhex script(whs) and execute or what? I tried both and everything else including deleting the pack itself but the game still plays normal like no editing was done. This is what i have done: Dl and update game to 4.5.8., dl ggk and crc and no crc_4.5.2. replace all neccessary folders to make ggk+no crc work, and lastly dl data unpack and change shadow.txt. to pack0 and lastly edit pack by following crespo vac tuts. Sample of my editing: 2341,Dark Cerberus,0,18,55,13588,0,296,423,10,50,2,6,0,0,0,0 ,0,5,5,5,5,5,0,1.1,4.5,1,2,dark_kerberos,ÀÛ¼ºÁß,0, 0,0,2172,0,0,0,3,1,3,92,92,75,75,2,18,1,634,793,23 ,53,0,. i finished for all mobs saved normal and launched ggk using no crc 4.5.2. and still plays normal. I wish the game would at least crash then i would know the data file is being read by client. So how do you make the edited pack file be read? There is no tuts on this:(

There should be no periods. Did you add or subtract bytes?

Hi, thnx for the reply... That period is end of my sentence so it doesn't sound like a run on sentence.
So if i make a mistake in editing wouldn't the game crash at least? And no i kept the file size the same. What ever i added, i also subtracted to maintain the file balance as explained by Instantdeath. Or would the game still run its course as if no editing was done if there was an error? I don't know how the game is still playing with the vast amount of editing that was done on datapak. Its as if i missed a key important step in making the client or server read of the datapak.04. Can someone give me a link for basics of using winhex editing, all i found was links on how to edit datapak using winhex(changing codes) but not on how to initiate that code. Please this is the first time i heard of winhex. So my main question is do i save as a winhex script and execute it, or save it as normal file, or maybe repack it? Lastly am i supposed to move the edited script to some other file? I wish people would make a guide on how to use winhex even my programming friends aren't familiar with it. They said they use c#,c++ and visual basics and sometimes hex workshop only for gaming.

So you edit shadow.txt change PackIO to 0.That's the mistake you make. If you hack using Winhex edit you don't edit shadow.txt. :)
If you hack using csv way, then you should directly edit info.csv and monster.csv. Please double check.

P/S: Don't hack in public. :D

Thnx for reply but i did edit the shadow.txt thats what i meant by saying changed to 0 it was originally PackIO. So do i just save the game as normal save cause thats what i did. And no of course i won't hack in public thats like future genocide of hacking for us all:D

-yeah im very noob on hex editing myself, im just following tuts and guides like you but for me i have friends to back me up... anyways... no need for that unpacked pack files if you prefer hex editing... like that person mentioned above. its like if you unpack the pack files then set your PackIO to "0" so it will not read from packs so you directly edit the .csv files then if you prefer hex editing which is harder (for me) there is no need to unpack the packfiles and PackIO should be change to "1"

-well thats based on what i undestand not really sure but it looks like its pretty much it! ^^

Wow thnx guys things are starting to make sense! Looks like theres 2 ways to edit instead

of one. 1:cvs direct editing 2: data pak editing via editing without unpacked files. I thought

unpacked files were just to find the offsets easier in the datapack4 file cause it mentions it

on other guides like Mastershouters but InstantDeath doesn't even mention anything about

unpacking data or anything about changing shadow file. One last question about csv editing

if you edit csv file you leave the datapak alone? Thnx in advance for those who reply

If you edit csv files leave the pak files alone.

Now we have to wait for new crc bypass lol.
