[Request] Conquer 4017/4036

Aka "econquer.zip" (the Alpha/Beta release). Mine got corrupted, anyone still have a download? :o

I'm fairly sure that econquer.zip is the v4217 client. I was never aware of anything before that until I looked up conqueronline.com on archive.org a while back. There were only 3 patches or so before v4217.

Actually, there were over 40 patches.. I used to have them all (I was one of the people who bought a CD in 2003 and 2004). The original econquer.zip was 4017. Patches 4021-4037 were released under the same name maybe two months later? But the first English client was definitely around 4017. The alpha/beta was referred to as Conquer 0.932 or something. A friend of my uncle's actually participated in setting up their networks when they opened their center in California in 2002-2003 :p

Well regardless of what it was back in the days. Nowadays it's impossible to find something that old.

I think you're right, but it's odd that the game hadn't been released yet and they had nearly 20 patches for it already. I'd assume it's because of the translation to English, but it seems it'd be easier to merge those old patches and translate the whole thing. Whatever. If you find it, let me know, because I want to mess around with it.

Yeah.. damnit. I intended on writing some kind of server for it for the hell of it. Didn't have many features though.

Yep, the first 20 or so patches for Conquer were adding quests/items and translating from Chinese to English. Blah, I can't believe it's lost.
