Is PW a dead game?

Hello,

just interested. Do you consider PW dead?

I, for one, do - section is getting more quiet by the month (except the "WTS [account]" stuff, which is a pretty good indicator for a dying game).

Not a dead game if you have rank 9 gear which is almost impossible to farm with current economy OR you cash shop ( Minimum of 1.2k$) to get entire gear since pvp and most events are centered around end game items.

I voted 'No' purely because the term 'dead game' is taken to mean something completely counter intuitive. A game used to be 'dead' when nobody played it anymore, but according to all the people that spam it on pwi forums it means that the game is less good and thus has less players.

The game is very much alive though, archosaur is still full, world chat is still being spammed and hundreds of dollars are invested in the game daily purely in the ah alone. Are there less players than in the beginning? Definitely. Is the game dead? No. There are still new players starting every day, it's really miraculous how many new low level players you can still find (when recruiting for faction / doing low lvl quests).

nah its not dead. i hvent played this game for awhile but i still know a lot of my friends still play. i know this isnt related to the subject but i hve a r9 sin for sale for only 215 usd :D

Personally, to me it's lost all appeal. However, as Interest said, it still seems very busy in all the large cities and in world chat. Of course, every update, PWE get more greedy and there is more general QQing, but people continue to plough a LOT of time and money into it.
I reckon it's got a few years left in it yet.

Stu, I feel the same way about it. It lost it's appeal way back when fishes came out. I have played it since open beta october 2009 (or was it 2008? Can't remember), and for me it was the best MMO I have ever played. It was destroyed by the constant cash shop updates and unbalanced new classes.

The publisher change the game with the time. As there are now much MMO out, it is more important to take from the players as much money as possible, this is as to make it possible to level as fast as possible. It is no problem to level in 4 weeks to level 100.

And with every update are getting bots lower and lower important. Mats are not realy needed as other gears then Molds are getting better and better. With Tokens are Wine cheaper then Mats. And it is faster to level with FC then with BH. Bots and Mats are not realy important at the game.

i start playing this with my gf, since she has not much time to play...we play 1 time a week or so for the fun.
meanwhile i start botting, from the money then merchanding.
first shock wen i see i cant have more then 200m in cash and need to buy 10m notes or put the money on the bank :D

now i became a bit boring on this game.
over 2 billion coins, some items, gold...and what to do with ?

since we play not often, we have no friends ingame to play with.
joined no faction too.
looking for ppl to play with like bh or quest, is boring waiting time.
most hyper fc, or pvp west archo and talk like genius.

so for me the game is dead, but since we play not often...my opinion is not much worth :)

i switch soon to gw2.

Most players that whine are old players that doesn't want accept any changes(How would you feel to have to re-buy all your equipment because a new updated introduced a better version?).

In my opinion in the last patch they re-balanced PvP a bit,at least equipment-wise. There are basically two sets of equips available:Rank equip and Nirvana equip.
The first one,its insanely costly and can't be directly farmed in game(unless you use the in game coins to buy gold),Its the best gear in game,and its obviously for cash shoppers or successful in-game merchants.
The second one,the Nirvana equip,its farmable in game,granted that it takes a lot of time to farm it,but all the items you need to make it are in game farmable.Its slightly weaker than current top Rank equip,but since the new patch,they released a more powerful version of these two.
The "Third Recast" they introduced its all about re-forging current second recast Nirvana equip and second recast Rank 9 one,off course Rank gear its still clearly superior,however, there is an important detail about this:First,almost no one has Rank 9 recast gear,since its even more insanely expensive(Normal Rank 9 gear cost like 1.300 dollars,you guess how much recast it cost),while lots of players have second recast Nirvana(Me included),which compared to second recast R9,its quite a lot weaker.

Moreover, Rank equipment its 100% untradable,while the"Lunar"version of Nirvana equipment is,even the third recast one.That means that hard-working players can simple sell it when a new equipment will be released(Assuming its not the 4th recast lol),while Rank cash shop players,will have to do again what they're best at:cash more dollars.

Now,the new Third-recast Nirvana its a lot closer to R9(Even recast),than the previous Nirvana versions,making it quite more valuable in PvP and PvE,more important,its not insanely hard to farm mats for it as someone may image.

So in these terms,its actually got more balanced than before,but yet,players still complain no-stop.

No the game its not dying, but PWE management sucks,there are always tons of things not included in patch notes,and almost no GM response in PWI forums(Currently raging out as usual).

rank9 3rd recast is handed to players for free atm, so is g16 nirvana ... problem is : r9 3rd cwst is sooo much over the top ....

PWE has net profit of around 136 mil/year from their games, and PWI is their flagship.

Dead? I think not.

I was and am perfectly aware of PWRD's market capital. I was asking if the game is dead, and not the company.

If you are perfectly aware of their market capital, you asked a silly question. It's their first game, their flagship game, branded with their company name. With that kind of capital, they're not going to let it die. It's way too profitable.

Dying he says! This game actually died in 2009/2010, damn PvP was fun back then.... and you didn't have to cashshop like mad to compete.
