Not too sure if this is useful or not but couldn't admins of their gameservers just block port 194 to prevent the botnet attacks?

Forgive my Naivete.

And also on the topic of Running server from Linux.

If it's a compatibility issue, how hard would it be to run it in a virtualbox environment firewalled by Linux Native?

More shots in the dark but as I learn more with my own personal studies I come across some nifty info.

ALSO I found something interesting about botnets which I'm sure you're allready familiar with. If not check it out ^_^

Not sure how you can do it on your end but from a physically accessible server you could set custom routing instructions to maybe block some of this crap from happening?

Good Luck guys.

if your talking about ddos you can stop that. but that don't help much becouse the attack then just go to your router and kill the internet connection and you have a server that can't connect to internet. and well no players get on

About running a server on Linux, if you use a Virtual Machine (VM) then you are not running it on Linux anymore, and the point on running it directly on Linux has the matter of the compatibility as all the codeing (source) of Shaiya Server(s) is done to be ran on Windows -as the host- it would be needed to create a whole new source-code for it to be run on Linux as the command lines for what is needed to be done are completely different from one Operating System to another
