HELP PLEASE.

Read through several guides and even more confused by them.

My issue?
I want to make a website and host it. But I have no idea where to start, apart from download xampp. The rest is all total gibberish to me. The instructions after installing xampp may as well be written in Cuniaform, for all the sense they make to me.

So, I humbly ask for someone to assist me. I am happy to sit and watch them do the job, and ask some stupid questions, but I cannnot afford to pay, yet.
If someone is willing to assist me, they will have their name on the website, as part of the server design team.

All i want is the basics-
The server name, the registration, download information, and a small section for the peoples names who helped create things and obviously the linkbacks.

Thats all.

THX.

Store your website files in htdoc
If you do not know php/html, than there are several programs out there that will help you design your website in a format similar to photoshop.
If i may recommend a program for Beginners i'd have to say Web Easy, Its pretty much self explainatory from there and you can create the website just like you would drawing a picture on the computer.
Then save it and place it in you htdocs folder in Xamppp
Start Apache and open Local Host
Check ur website.
On a blank Page
add the register page coding along with
the Server Config
Code:
<?php
$dbuser = "USERNAME";
$dbpass = "PASSWORD";
$dbname = "DATABASE";
$dbhost = "IP ADDRESS";
$con = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass);
?>

UPDATED

Made a site using SERIF WebPlus Starter Edition. I couldnt afford the software you suggested, but I already had this one.
It consists of 3 pages, but i am not sure if i have done everything correctly.

Also,I dont understand your last instructions. I assume its for the registration of accounts? I havent done that part yet.

I know we aint always seen eye to eye. Unlike some people i believe in letting the past stay in the past. I need this sorting out. Will you please show me?
