Password input is wrong in the castserver config file.

hmm is it the account called "sa" you mean the pass within the login props in sql?

the account for the database.... doesn't have to be ''sa'' you can make a new one with anything.
but you make it in sql server management then put into files for it to access. (if you do that be sure to change odbc settings as well)

But yes, the login details for sql is what you need to put in it.

ahh so the config file user and pass has nothing to do with the connect object on sql login part ~ btw im using express 2005

got rid of express getting enterprise installed atm

yes... it does have to do with it lol.
the config for cast should look like this

Code:
;
CAST_PORT		= 7882
DATABASE_ADDRESS	= [COLOR="Red"]Your I.P Address[/COLOR],1433
DATABASE_DATABASE	= CHARACTER
DATABASE_ACCOUNT	= [COLOR="Red"]Sql Username[/COLOR]
DATABASE_PASSWORD	= [COLOR="Red"]Sql Password[/COLOR]
CAST_SERVER_ID		= 1101
LOG_PATH		= ..\LogFiles\
You need to change the IP, and database account/password info.

just use sql server 2000, or 2008. they work fine.

there are a few tuts out there on how to install, and setup the databases.
after that, all you need to do, is set a new login account on the sql server. and put that login info into the configs.

i did everything correctly.. set the permissions ect... the error comes up but just under the error i get the message SP_GUILD_SERVER_ID_SET SUCCESS which is what i wanted to show up without the error msg...

getting the success msg after an error msg is that a bad thing or...?
05/13/2012 14:54 joshyb123#10
if u done it all correctly you wouldn't get an error lol
go through a tut again, and make sure you didn't miss any steps by mistake.
05/13/2012 15:08 ozboy07#11
true, the tuts ive come across say different things :S

EDIT: is it okay to use ms sql server 2008?

Couldnt have followed the tut any better than i did...
but the error still comes up the same as in the screen shot i first posted :(

;
CAST_PORT = 7882
DATABASE_ADDRESS = 5.115.72.220,1433
DATABASE_DATABASE = CHARACTER
DATABASE_ACCOUNT = aeolosdk
DATABASE_PASSWORD = elsa17
CAST_SERVER_ID = 1101
LOG_PATH = ..\LogFiles\

db_account
db_password

is perfect double checked in the management studio

cant seem to work out whats wrong...

got the usual session error too even after i enabled the TCP/IP in config manager >.<
Going through the tut again to see if i get the error again...

if you don't eve know how to set up SQL properly then don't touch the pservers stuff. use mixed auth mode and your problem will be gone. and yes, it has been answered already.
