Oh, its a collect resources event. I think its something like every 500 of something you collect you earn something (i think its with your pet, but im not 100% sure)

I have done 3 of the special quests and i've used my pet everytime and i have yet to get anything at all.

Yeah, i think there's a chance of getting something. Not a 100% chance, i don't know as i haven't done them. But assuming its bigpoint and all, it probably is a 20% chance of getting it (that was a random number, its not a proven stat, just saying)

Are you sure because in us2 we have them. Go to quests then click on special quests.

just bot boxes you will earn much more then by collecting ore ;)
