Ok, let's see if this can work.

#copserver @ irc.synirc.net

Anyone interested in getting help on how CO functions, or sharing your knowledge with others come and join. We are not interested in providing implementation-specific help though, so don't come here thinking we can fix your modified LOTF mess or something.

We can help with a wide range of topics related to coding in general. One I particularly want to hightlight is revision control systems, which automate most of the process of organising code and versions for you. Everyone should be using one, yet nobody appears to be. It's because you can't collaborate and organise code that all your servers suck.

Also up for discussion, for those interested in collaborating with other developers, is the possibility of a new, well coded server that aims to replace LOTF and other crap sources around here. I'm sure everyone with even some knowledge agrees that LOTF and others are a complete mess and need a big turn over. While some parts of the code are useful and can be recycled in another server, much of it needs a complete rewrite (ie, NPCs, Magics etc).

Just as an example of some of the things weve been discussing, we have spoken about certain aspects of existing sources (good and bad points), databases (what not to use, and advantages of some over others), and an insight into the history of some previous sources and where they began.

So some pretty interesting stuff.

I agree with Jack (well all the offtopic stuff was fun too xD)

Well i am working on trying to update above 5017. I am using Hybrid's bugles source I have been working hard adding new things everyday. But i think now its time for me to start working on updating above 5017 so i just work with more recent patches and everthing. Well it be nice if somone could help me understand how to find the keys and what programs i could use. I have read Lowfry's packet guide but i don't understand it fully. Well good luck and best wishes to everyone who is trying this as well.
