Not to offend you but from what I see it's a front-end for CptSky's .dll, so it's not any better/worse than the one I released, is it?
05/01/2012 18:09 Ultimation#3
yea its just a front end, but ive also just updated it and but in my own WDB extractor, dunno if you guys decrypted the footer or not, so i released this one, wich reads the WDB footer and extracts the files.

as for the Converter basically yes its a font end. nothing more/nothing less, and i didnt know you had released one. no damage intended!

I'll check this converter when I'll reboot on Windows. But, it seems to be really great if it's implement the WDB at the same time.

i have yours too Kiyono, but perhaps im using it wrong. It only converts dbc to ini for me - as far as i know how to use it. Ultis will go back to dbc as well. One tool after cpt skys extraction to go back and fourth as needed. One tool to do it all would be best ofc, a wdb extractor that goes to ini for editing, but has the capability to go back to dbc so folks can allow the files to inject.

Just putting the .dbc files in the ini folder in conquer and conquer will repackage them at runtime, so a ini to dbc isnt required.
05/01/2012 21:13 Zatoichi#7
that's assuming you edit the dbc directly and do not use kiyonos tool as a conversion to txt (ini) which is what i had done. The ini will not inject ofc, and must be converted back to dbc. Can we edit dbc directly? i've not seen a public tool for that but i could be wrong, especially if it wasn't released in the editor section (i rarely visit the other forums).

edit - atm the public workflow seems to be CptSky's wdb extractor to get the dbc files. Then kiyono's tool to convert to ini for editing. Maybe Kiyono's converts back to dbc once edited, i didn't see that feature myself tho. This release would come in after CptSky's wdb extractor, allowing you to convert the dbc to ini, edit them, then convert back to dbc - then place them as you said in the folder to be injected at run time. Again, im just observing the public work flow - custom pipelines, unreleased tools not withstanding.

PS if there is such a tool to convert dbc to ini for editing and back, or allowing dbc to be edited directly...why isnt it stickied here? It sure should be, editors need that too. While the psrvr section may cover psrvr tools, this is the client section and should have all the tools for client editing available. Just mho.

That's rather strange as it does work for me.
//edit Just re-checked and it does indeed work.
Open -> select .dbc -> hit convert -> do edits -> open -> select .txt -> hit convert.
Not that it matters much now, this tool apparently has built-in WDB extracting functionality so it's effectively mine and CptSky's tool in one.

ahh very nice! I missed that functionality completely! sry bout that =)

Im gonna be doing a direct DBC editor as you well know Zatoichi. i guess i could post it here.

Bro you need WBDManager that was a tool from official conquer, it can encrypt/decrypt all ini files to ani and sent back to dbc. Just used the search bar you can find it, I guessed try to type WDBManager it's not a post it's in the comment section where the file attached Spirited is the one who attached that in the comment section.
